Sept 30th - Richmond, VA - The Backdoor
Saturday night was amazing as well. We played a small venue called the backdoor near Richmond but the kids showed up in force and we packed the room with over 130 people. Before the show we all (plus Jeremiah..s brother and Tony..s wife Melysa) packed with the Yearling dudes into their van and destroyed some Chik-fil-a. Yearling threw down the gauntlet again plying a nearly flawless set and dedicating one of our favorites to Jesse that they had been previously scolded for not playing the night before. We played and it felt like another home show cause the first few rows were spot on with the lyrics. At the end of ..The Common Curse.. (you know, the acapella one) a bunch of the L&R guys and Sid from Yearling crashed stage and sang along. It was rad and just such a worshipful moment. Jeremiah even broke his bass but Hessler from L&R let Jeremiah bleed all over his bass for the rest of the set so it didn..t even matter. After wards L&R once again threw it down and played an amazing set. However Josh especially was all over the place because I challenged him to a duel of throwdown ability. I had thrashed it pretty dang hard but Josh showed up with a late-ninties-Brett-Favre like ferocity. But it was agreed by all that it was a draw, and I am proud to share the crown. Everybody was great and we got to meet so many awesome new people, even some dudes from Longwood came to see us for the second night in a row!!! Afterwards we were all chillin in the post-show glow and Travy McThickbones was sitting on L&R..s fender on their trailer and it broke. I only mention this because Travis is one of the kindest gentle hearted dudes and he is not the kind of guy who ever seeks out confrontation or enjoys giving bad news. But after he Deputy-Dogged it in to tell those guys, everything was cool. They weren't upset and instead saw it as leverage in cut down battles. Later we headed out to the good old ihop with some friends before crashing at Jeremiah..s parent..s house which is an amazing old manor built in like 1904.
